My bedroom does not have a name

I explore a form of self-portrait using interior space and items that call attention to the delicate boundary between womanhood and girlhood. I am concerned about the in-between space of childhood and adulthood as interpreted through ceramic replication. By recreating my childhood-adult domestic life, I unpack the process of personal change, emphasizing how certain aspects of life can remain constant despite progression of time.
My work also reshapes stereotypes around Black women in America, including the
sexualization of girls and the infantilization of women.
This installation includes a plethora of ceramic items ranging from electronics, jewelry, sticky notes, clothes/ shoes, food, everyday items, insects, and body parts.
