My Compassion

My compassion is a combination of imagery, text and charcoal drawing. It is the manifestation of my grieving process in various ways. After the passing of my nana. I had a strong need to draw and write about her. I chose to write "I love you" continuously in her hair to comprise the texture, as well as release pent up grief. And to physically show her love in any way I can again. I wrote sister poems about her passing and my recollections of her. I have imbedded the poems into some of my favorite photos of her to be visually reminiscent of how it feels to be affected by Dementia personally. And as someone viewing the decline of another due to the illness. She is an immense inspiration to me and has shaped who I am today. I am proud to continue in her legacy.
